Atmos Rewards Ascent: The basics
In Atmos Rewards, the joint loyalty program between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines is a cobranded airline card within Atm Rewards (the company’s own-brand) atmos rewards ascent.
For a $95 annual fee, the card earns valuable Atmos Rewards points and provides a few added benefits.
One of the best examples to make most of these points is redeeming for premium cabins with Oneworld partners, including Cathay Pacific or Fiji Airways. Nevertheless, Atmos Rewards points are also solid for short-haul domestic routes on Alaska Airlines or American Airlines.
ALASKA AIRLINES
The card’s most notable features are its annual $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from $23), which is earned upon each account anniversary as long as you have spent $6,000 or more in the prior anniversary year.
In general, it’s a good option for Alaska or Hawaiian frequent flyers because of the benefits they can enjoy when flying with either airline (free checked bags and preferred boarding).
However, if you’re looking for more premium perks, such as lounge access, this card won’t meet your needs.

Atmos Rewards Ascent benefits
In addition, the Atmos Rewards Ascent offers fewer added benefits than other cobranded airline cards. Nevertheless, for an annual fee of $95, you can still get some perks.
Perks when flying Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines
If cardholders fly Alaska or Hawaiian and pay with the Atmos Rewards Ascent, they are given one piece of free checked luggage for themselves and up to six other passengers on the same reservation. That is a significant savings, especially when you plan to fly with either airline regularly and saves $35 per person per bag for checked bags.
In addition to preferred boarding on Alaska and Hawaiian, cardholders will receive 20% back on inflight purchases from Alaska Airlines and Hawaii Airlines when they use the card.

If you’re working towards Atmos Rewards status, you can use the card to make money if you have it. For every $3 spent (up to 30,000 points per year through the end of 2025), you will earn 1 status point. You can spend no cap on status points, but from 2026 there’s no one.
Companion Fare
The $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from $23) is one of the best benefits of Atmos Rewards Ascent, as mentioned above. This is unlocked after spending $6,000 or more on the card during the prior anniversary year.
When you fly Alaska Airlines with a friend/family member on paid airfares at least once yearly, and the perk is worth it for your value as long as you’re in this perke.

Alaska Lounge+ membership discount
If you pay the card with this card, while the Atmos Rewards Ascent doesn’t offer outright lounge access, you can earn $100 off an annual Alaska Lounge+ membership. A membership costs $795 a year.

That advantage alone compensates for the card’s $95 annual fee, which is paid off. Yet for the price tag, this perk isn’t as useful unless you were already paying to get an Alaska Lounge+ membership.
Other considerations
Note that this card doesn’t offer basic travel protections like baggage delay insurance, lost luggage insurance and purchase protection and trip cancellation/interruption coverage. You may want to consider an alternative if these perks are important to you, such as .

A card that is not necessarily the best for spending categories other than Alaska and Hawaiian purchases may be this card. Yet, if you’re all-in on earning Atmos Rewards points, then swipe this card makes it more attractive.
Redeeming Atmos Rewards points
Atmos Rewards provides stellar redemption rates on domestic travel. Short-haul economy tickets start at just 4,500 points one-way.
For example, one of the best Atmos Rewards points I can redeem is to book short-haul American Airlines flights (including Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) to Louisville Muhammad Ali International airport (SDF) in Kentucky.

Atmos Rewards Ascent vs. Atmos Rewards Summit

When to apply for the Atmos Rewards Ascent
In the first 90 days after opening an account, new Atmos Rewards cardholders can earn 60,000 bonus points and $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from $23) for purchases that have been spent on items in order to spend $3,000 on purchases; they also receive a 30% global flight discount code for if they open their new account.
TPG’s valuations deem the points in this offer to be worth $870.
But we’ve only seen this bonus and its launch bonus, so the offer history of this card is limited. But with that in mind, we generally recommend applying when the bonus gives over 60,000 points and includes a Companion Fare.
