This is a quiet Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card for small-business owners who frequently stay at Marriott properties.

The card is squarely placed at the center of Marriott’s co-branded lineup with a $125 annual fee (see rates and fees). This is not the luxury perks you’ll get on premium Marriott cards, but it still offers good value because of a annual free night award (some hotels have resort fees), automatic elite status and bonus earned for typical business costs.

But I’ve always found that the best credit cards — hotel cobranded card included are most effective when the benefits align naturally with how you travel. This card provides a mix of benefits for business owners who regularly book Marriott stays, whether for conferences, client meetings or quick overnight trips — which can make those stays more rewarding.

You know what to know about the only Marriott business credit card that is still available for freshers. ** , **Card rating- (in the paraphrasing) ’12 is in fact my favorite carr *CarD rating.

*Card rating is based on the opinion of TPG’s editors and is not influenced by the card issuer.

Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card: The basics

In addition, Marriott’s main cobranded credit card is the Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex for small-business owners that regularly remain in their Marriott properties. The card earns Marriott Bonvoy points on purchases and offers a number of hotel-focused amenities that can help improve stays in the brand’s portfolio.

The card charges $125 a year and earns high rewards on purchases at hotels participating in the Marriott Bonvoy program, as well as bonus points on many common business expenses.

Also, cardholders receive automatic Marriott Gold Elite status and 15 elite night credits per calendar year, which can accelerate progress toward higher levels of Marriott Bonvoy status.

These elite night credits can stack with the credits earned from a personal Marriott credit card.

The annual 35,000 points (some hotels have resort fees) free night award is another notable perk, as it can be a standout perK. strategically – especially at properties with high cash rates this one benefit can easily offset the card’s annual fee.

While Marriott Bonvoy points can be transferred to over 35 airline partners, it’s a most rewarding card for travelers who plan to redeem points for Marriott stays.

This card is a strong advantage for an American Express small-business card, which will not add to your Chase 5/24 count; so opening it shouldn’t affect your ability to apply for Chase cards down the road.

Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card benefits

The Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex doesn’t have luxury-level perks but I believe the value here is really down to some of the core benefits that work well together — especially if you already stay with Marriott regularly. Select benefits require enrollment for enrollment.

Annual free night award

My personal favorite is the annual free night award of up to 35,000 points that you receive each year after your account anniversary (some hotels have resort fees) which can be a key reason for this card’s appeal.

Practically, the most effective use of this certificate is to be on nights when cash rates are unusually high. A Marriott property is easily outweighing the card’s $125 annual fee if it costs $300 or more for a standard room but falls within the 35,000-point redemption range.

You can also pay off the certificate with up to 25,000 points from your Bonvoy account (previously 15,000) which significantly expands the range of hotels where it is available.

A second free night award (up to 35,000 points) is also available for s who spend $60,000 on purchases in a calendar year, although spending requirement will probably not be the target of most small companies.

Automatic Marriott Gold Elite status

Among the Marriott Bonvoy Business’s most notable perk is automatic Marriott Gold Elite status, which includes 25% bonus points on paid stays and late checkout, premium internet and room upgrades (based on availability at check-in) upgrade.

While Gold Elite status isn’t the highest tier in the show, I have heard that it can still help you overall experience at hotel level (especially when occasional upgrades or late checkout make a stay more comfortable).

Elite night credits boost

Cardholders also receive 15 elite night credits toward the next level of elite status.

They stack with elite night credits from personal Marriott credit cards, so you could start the year with 30 nights already credited toward status.

RITZ CARLTON

You get more than half way there because Platinum Elite status requires 50 nights a year. For frequent Marriott travelers, this shortcut toward higher status is one of the card’s most underrated benefits.

Additional perks

Other benefits include access to Amex Offers and no foreign transaction fees (see rates and fees).

Plus, if you book an eligible room directly through Marriott at participating properties under the “Amex Business Card Rate” and automatically discount standard room rates, you can also enjoy this. The , “It’s a great deal of fun.”

How to earn and use your rewards

When you apply Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex, you’ll get the points of a Marriott bonvoy that can be used to redeem across the brand’s hotel portfolio or transferred to travel partners.

Earning points

This card offers 6 points per dollar spent on eligible purchases at hotels participating in the Marriott Bonvoy program.

You also receive 4 points per dollar spent on:

  • Restaurant

purchases worldwide

  • Purchases made at U.S.

gas stations

  • Wreless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers
  • Purchases made from merchants in the U.S. for shipping

You’ll earn 2 Bonvoy points per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases.

W UNION SQUARE/MARRIOTT

When you keep staying at Marriott properties regularly, it’s a bit of an interesting earning potential when you combine card rewards with the points you earn through the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.

The base points per dollar spent on hotel stays are 10 for Marriott members, and if the card is automatically Gold Elite (and it’s an automatic bonus), you will receive a 25% bonus that brings the total to 12. Marriott spends 5 points per dollar on a single person’s alone, while staying alone.

Adding 6 points per dollar from the credit card would make you 18 points. Marriott 5 Marriott points per dollar spent on eligible Marriott stays.

From TPG’s March 2026 valuation of 0 to date, Paraphrastr is based on the fact that it has been valued at. This is a good return for an associate hotel credit card (and the 7 cents per Marriott point) of nearly 13% on Marriott stays.

Besides Marriott purchases, the four-point categories of the card’s earning rates are high across many common spending areas. Those categories make it easier to earn Marriott points even when you’re not staying at a Marriott property.

While you stay at Marriott hotels occasionally, these bonus categories can still help the card earn meaningful rewards on everyday use. But still, in general we recommend putting nonhotel spending on an average travel rewards card rather than the hotel itself.

Redeeming points

The most valuable way to redeem Marriott points is typically for award stays at Marriott properties.

Marriott Bonvoy’s dynamic award pricing is based on the number of points required for a hotel night can vary depending on demand and season.

To maximize the value, one of the best ways to book stay stays in five-night increments is that it unlocks Marriott’s “Stay for 5, Pay for 4” benefit. A five-night free benefit is a simple way to earn up to 20% discount on your redemption and extend your points further.

Recently TPG lead writer Katie Genter took a free night award for ‘the stay at Marriott Mena House, Cairo that would have been $419 otherwise worth the certificate when used strategically strategically.

While Marriott points can also be transferred to airline partners, the typical 31 transfer ratio is not very competitive when compared to flexible currencies such as American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards. Generally, hotel stays will usually be more value for redeeming points for that reason.

Potential drawbacks to the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card

Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex is a good value for Marriott loyalists, but it’s not the best option to all small business owners.

Firstly, rewards for the card are heavily tied to the Marriott ecosystem; travelers who don’t frequent stay at Marriott properties may find it hard to make the most of its value. For those looking for flexible rewards that can be transferred to a large variety of airline and hotel partners, some may prefer ‘general travel rewards card’.

A further disadvantage is the low airline transfer ratio, which has been a major exception to . Marriott Bonvoy points usually pass over to airlines partner partners in a 31 ratio. So, you’re going to lose much value versus earning transferable points through sane card program.

The card is a good free night award, and at the end of that day it’s $60,000 in annual spending for the second free evening prize — which may be out of reach for many small businesses.

When to apply for the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card

A new cardmembers can earn three free night awards right now, with the Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex, after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership and two more free nights trophies after paying an additional $3,000 in those first 6 months (for a total of $9,000 in spending), according to their latest cards. As many as 50,000 points are awarded to nights by . There are resort fees for some hotels, .

The valuations of TPG put 0 Marriott points at TPS. A 50,000-point night is around $350 for 7 cents apiece, meaning that it’s about three dollars. For that reason, it is the full bonus worth up to $1,750.

So this is an aggressive bid, near the highest offer we have ever seen on the card and it’s a good time to apply for that card when you are seeing one.

But before applying, note that both Marriott and American Express have strict application rules which may affect your eligibility for a welcome bonus (especially if you’ve previously held some Marriott or former Starwood Preferred Guest credit cards).
