Located on the quiet stretch of New York’s Thompson Street, with its graceful sawtooth oaks and Chinese elms, The Manner is an aptly-named boutique hotel that manages to feel both dignified (a home away from home) as it says; “it has a house away” at home (but incredibly, very stylish one). There are manys of The Manner in this sense, as is the eye-catching design of the hotel; it’s bold and eclectic – like so much that it has been sophisticated. Blink twice – and you might think some of its rooms are the perfect example of an extremely well-designed flat.

This is not a cookie-cutter points hotel; The Manner (operated by Standard International) which Hyatt bought in 2024), it’s about design-forward and distinct as they come, with the curation being directed by Milan-based Hannes Peer for its collaboration with Verena Haller of Standard international. Guests are filled with the most beautiful collection of art and decor, all of which tell an story as densely written as the city it calls home to — from tasteful nods to the timelessness of New York’t in midcentury modernism (inspired by the likes of Gio Ponti).

Here are five reasons The Manner deserves a spot on your New York City hotel bucket list.

Comfortable guest rooms feel both nostalgic and sophisticated

ELLIE NAN STORCK/THE POINTS GUY

My favorite is nostalgia and I like old-school hotels (there are no TVs in the rooms) that resemble traditional school culture. When you’re like that, you’ll probably be at home here and who needs a TV with viewed like this?

Midcentury modernism is a theme that runs through guest rooms (97, including suites) of midcentury contemporaryisim. This is a long, low, window-facing velvet couch that sits under ‘glass chandelier”, custom-designed by Peer and was featured in our Deluxe Corner King Room. Stylish A warm, bright colour palette complements retro elements such as the lacquered headboard (matching that of the lobby staircase) and shimmering gold accent colors complimented with a playful mix of textures and materials throughout the space.

It was one of the most coziest bed I’ve ever slept in (and has now become one among my top hotel beds of all time) with its king-size bed, full of soft white linens.

The bathroom was a chic situation just off the bedroom, next to the main door and smallest but practical closet (though sleeker in look and feel than the bed) while it was more stylish. This included black-veined marble tiling, dimmable globe lights, glints of gold hardware, fluffy bathrobes and luxe bath products from sustainable brand Costa Brazil.

Though small, it was certainly just enough space for a two-night stay.

The food alone is a reason to book a stay

ELLIE NAN STORCK/THE POINTS GUY

The Manner is a large hotel, and culinary experiences are abundant with three dining outlets, ‘one guest-only lounge and an in-room dining menu. I’m not sure if the food was going to be, but happy to say it blowed me away – in fact we would return for another stay just to enjoy breakfast again and some special bites are mentioned below.

Totally inspired, the hotel’s in-house cocktail bar Sloane’s is an all vibe. It’s something that makes it a seductive atmosphere, even though some people think its sceney-ness is the thing with this. Getting through a hanging velvet curtain and it feels like you have found ‘hideaway for the people who don’t want to be seen’ (and would rather hide away with soiled martini and dozen oysters)

The dimly lit interiors have a discreet second floor location with sumptuous fabrics (including leather upholstery in rich colors) and ‘a sleek bar that sits in front of an entire wall, which is hand-applied gold leaf covered. A little light snacks were sat down for the dinner, which turned out so good that we skipped a dinner reservation elsewhere and stuck to the menu (which I thought was lovelyly playful about such an elevated setting). The favoriteites were oysters on the half shell ($28), chicken nuggets ($24) and beef sliders with American cheese ($9).

The Otter

This is the hotel’s main dining center and a charming neighborhood restaurant, The Otter where chef Alex Stupak serves he seafood-focused menu against the backdrop of stunning murals inspired by New York’S own heritage, in the French Riviera in mid-1900s and Italian Mediterranean modernism. I’m staying at the restaurant (the place was closed during my stay, so it will have to go back and forth again to try it firsthand). , ) and the English-language writer.

Hotel in bed is always a treat, but I can’t say all hotel in-room dining menus are same – even when it comes to luxury properties. A. chef at The Manner’s in-room dining menu, the food on its “in-house” restaurant was truly impressive expertly prepared, delicious dishes arrived hot and on time.

Breakfast, in particular, was delicious; and we loved classics such as piping hot cappunos ($8), two beautifully poached eggs ($19), chicken sausage ($10) and mixed berries ($10). We were greeted by a lemony gem lettuce Caesar salad ($20) and dry-aged New York strip steak ($74) for dinner in the room one night. And yet the show’s real star was a life-changing Boston cream pie ($19) that I miss this day (I almost asked me whether I could get it for breakfast the following morning).

Guests can enjoy exclusive access to a rooftop bar and stylish lounge

The a little bit of exclusivity at. hotel is always fun; while some of The Manner’s restaurants are open to everyone, The Rooftop and The Apartment are reserved for guests only.

Luckily I got it on its last weekend before closing in the winter months, The Rooftop (which I’m lucky to catch) has a small bar with cozy, retro-chic seating and stunning views of Manhattan. I think this certainly felt like one of the most affluent places to hang out at the hotel, especially in the evening. Two glasses of wine and small plates that were not as impressive a contrast to the other restaurants on-property, but we enjoyed drinking over drinks (we were there for the views and the vibes anyway)

In a statement that the hotel describes The Apartment as “a private social sanctuary” in its second floor, it is’lounge-style space on the building’s second floors only to guests. The most apartment-style space is this area (of course) with a cool collection of coffee table and art books, mirrored walls, lots of patterns and eclectic design pieces as well as plenty of comfortable seating to enjoy something to eat (food is available throughout the day).

During my stay, it’s also fun to relax and socialize but never seemed too busy during my time in the house. The Manner’s signature Negroni is also available for guests to enjoy at aperitivo hours every day from 4 p. Paraphrasing m. -7 p) . M m is ,.

The location is quiet but feels close to the heart of Soho

ELLIE NAN STORCK/THE POINTS GUY

How hard is it to beat a Soho location, where you can find much of Manhattan’s best restaurants, shopping, art and culture at your fingertips. The Manner sits on a relatively quiet block of Thompson Street, so as to all that this lively neighborhood has to offer without losing its comfort and relaxation atmosphere? Just a few minutes on foot, you’ll find iconic restaurants such as Dante, Balthazar and Sadelle’s, along with popular reservations like The Corner Store. It is also home to aplenty art galleries in the area, such as the Judd Foundation and The Drawing Center.

The subway access to the nearby area includes the Spring Street station (C and E trains), Canal Street street station(A, C andE trains) and Prince Street train (R and W trains).

Best of all, the property is bookable using World of Hyatt points

ELLIE NAN STORCK/THE POINTS GUY

While cash rates at The Manner are varying by season and demand, I saw prices as low as $488 per night for the next six months.

As a Category 8 World of Hyatt property, standard award availability starts at 35,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

One of the credit cards that earns the most points for Hyatt stays, or one that offers automatic World of HATT elite status for value-added benefits when booking The Manner? They also include.

  • World of Hyatt Credit Card

For example, (see rates and fees) 4 points per dollar spent at Hyatt hotels and resorts, automatic Discoverist status; five elite night credits per year for a higher tier hotel.

  • World of Hyatt Business Credit Card

Refuse of the phrase (see rates and fees) 4 points per dollar spent at Hyatt hotels and resorts, automatic Discoverist status; five tier-qualifying nights for every $10,000 spent each calendar year on higher ier in order to earn 5 point per cent.

Accessibility at The Manner

A hotel has five ADA-compliant guest rooms with lowered thermostat and light switches, a lowering peephole and door latch, wider doorways (and fully accessible bathrooms) and the Manner’s public spaces are Americans with Disabilities Act- compliant; it also features five of the hotels’ four AA-approved guest room suites.

As always, TPG recommends calling the hotel before your booking to ensure the accommodations meet your needs.

Bottom line

So many amazing hotels are there in New York City, and it’s always fun to find a new one that makes my short list. I’m sure it’s time to go back to The Manner for the awe-inspiring rooftop views, one of my now-favorite hotel beds, moody vibes at Sloane’S and best Boston cream pie I have ever had.

I’m a Hyatt loyalist looking for sexy-friendly city stay, or someone who likes. balance of elegance, high design and nostalgia…I highly recommend The Manner (maybe the coolest kid in Soho).
