Earning miles on the United Club

That’s what ultimately differentiates the United Club from other cobranded airline credit cards, including its earning rates.

Cardholders earn:

The total miles per dollar spent on United flights is 11 (11 percent) of the trips (6 miles earned as a MileagePlus member, plus 5 miles from having the Club Card).

  • 5 miles per dollar on hotels booked through Renowned Hotels and Resorts when you prepay for your hotel stay.
  • 5 miles per dollar spent on all other United purchases
  • 2 miles per dollar spent on all other

purchases

  • 2 miles per dollar spent on

The travel and dining categories of this card are broadly defined, as they do with Chase Ultimate Rewards credit cards such as the chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees) and the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (such at rates & fees), since Chase is the issuer. This is why it means you’ll have a much easier and less stressful time learning when to use your card.

With TPG’s April 2026 valuations claiming Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth over United miles, if you have either of these cards, you’ll want them for general travel and dining spending.

But if you don’t already have either of those cards, then you can still earn rewards on purchases with the United Club Card.

Redeeming miles on the United Club

U.S. has some sweet spots in its MileagePlus program when you are ready to redeem miles. The fact that United does not publish an award chart means the rate of redemption for awards can be unpredictable.

Nevertheless, there are other ways to earn value in the show including booking partner awards with United miles. Under United, which does not charge fuel surcharges on partner awards, you save hundreds of dollars per ticket when booking awards such as first-class tickets on Lufthansa through United.

The deal is great, as it was more than 15 hours long and the flight was 84,700 United miles for a Polaris business class upgrade on ‘Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Cape Town International airport (CPT),’ former TPG credit cards writer Chris Nelson said.

Miles aren’t just great for business-class international flights, but can also be very useful for domestic trips.
